E rere ana ngā mihi ki ngā tangata whenua ō tēnei rohe ā i ngā tangata katoa. Ko te tumanaako he waimarie ā Meri Kirihemete i ā tatou. Hei pai tō kōutou tau hou.
Greetings to the first people of this land and greetings to you all. Merry Christmas to one and all, peace and relaxation to all. Best wishes for the New year.
As the lovely whakatauki expresses, (See more whakatauki at this link, https://www.kapiticoast.govt.nz/libraries/services-at-our-libraries/maori/te-reo/whakatauki/ ), the year is drawing to an end. Taking a break from clinical work may often involve the reflection that work not completed now still needs to be completed. This can be a powerful motivator to forgo a break. Communication is the foundation of counselling and therapy and it is necessary to take care of communication in all its forms, phone, text, meet, social media, emails. It is often the small things done well that make a difference to how well a particular event proceeds. How many of us have had to fix that typo of 8am with 8pm or some such knowing that the correction will take more time and energy than doing it correctly in the first place. AI may be the tool of choice in 2026 to help the words and spelling look great and the content clear. Making use of cut and paste while useful can also embed and make invisible to the writer/editor little mistakes that can create confusion. And yet maybe if we look at the typos and the message, we sometimes need to forgive ourselves for imperfection as the purpose of the message is clear. Fatigue can be a big driver of the little mistake and this is probably a very good reason to stop, pack away all the little bits and pieces that require your attention and take that break to recharge and simply breathe without the constant demands of a busy schedule.
We wish you well for the holiday break and the New year. Please contact you therapist directly if you wish to know their availability over the holiday break.
